  • Lake Tahoe Trip

I’ve been remiss in posting family, friends and vacation pictures, so I decided to start before the new year and catching up.  We decided to get away to Tahoe for my birthday in September.  A friend recommended Harvey’s since they offer rooms for dog owners.  This was the first time we travelled with Chase and Corrie.  I do have to admit Chase was cool with traveling but Corrie was pretty feral during the whole time we were there.  Fortunately they were both fine when we left them in our room when we went to game or dine.  This is the view from our 14th floor room.

Here’s Hal posing in front of a ski slope.  This photo doesn’t do justice to the vertigo I was feeling just imagining skiing down this slope – I don’t ski, I chalet as I like to say.  See you at the chalet Hal :)

The highlight on my birthday was to see my niece, Savanah and her mom! It was a great time to catch up and celebrate at the Hard Rock Cafe for dinner.

    Socoro, Rich and Savanah.

We just had Chase on the last visit, so I was happy to introduce Savanah to Corrie.

I even got animated with Chase and Corrie.  I’m sure Savanah gets her artistic gift from my brother :)

Here’s a pic of feral Corrie at the lake.  The two hour ride around the lake was awesome.  Too bad there wasn’t many places to stop and take in the beauty.

We decided to come back a day earlier than planned, but we came home with bank and extra day to relax before the work week.

    Ciao for now.

  • Facebook Time Warp

Hal and I were down in Los Angeles a couple weekends ago visiting family and friends. We got to spend time with my friend Steve whom I haven’t seen in like 25 years!  Although we’ve kept in touch via emails the past couple years, nothing compares to seeing a long time friend to reminisce.

There was a time in my life when I lived with friends and their families so I could continue going to high school and I lived with Steve and his mom back in ’84.  I don’t remember classes and studying much around that time (other than marching band!).  What I fondly remember West Hollywood incorporated into a city, LA was hosting the Olympics and weekends were for trips to Laguna and Venice beach with friends!  Looking back, we had to grow up pretty fast in those days and I was really appreciative of the friends I hung with back then.  It was kind of hard to reactivate 25 year old brain cells and melding them to current ones in use the next day, but it was totally worth it.  I like Facebook :)

  • Too Cute Not to Share

A few weeks ago, I stopped by the pet store near my work to pick up some things for our zoo, when a young woman walked in with her sheltie.  Naturally I had to ask if I can say to the little guy. She told me of a local sheltie gathering just north of the GG Bridge.  I gave her my card and asked if she would let me know the next time they had a get-together.  Sure enough, the first sheltie gathering of the year was this past weekend and sure enough there was about 15 shelties running around (ours included).  It was great to meet so many people who share the same love of shelties.  Check out the pics!

  • All is well now!

     IMG_2088

Here’s Corrie resting after her surgery yesterday.  All went well and I have to give a shout out to San Francisco Pet Hospital for doing such a great job with her.  I did get a chance to see the two very large stones they removed from her and they were “impressive” according to the doctor.  Chase gave Corrie a complete sniff-down but knew she needed rest – that was yesterday.  Today they were running around so I had to split them before taking off to work.  Thankfully we have a friend over now so they are being watched.  A good couple things I learned after all this. One, we don’t have to change her diet and two, if it happens again we can treat her with meds.

    Have a great weekend!

  • This is not good.

    CorrieScan

I’ve had a few days to let this sink in, so it’s not so traumatic any longer.  I took Corrie to the vet last week because she kept peeing in the house and it didn’t look healthy.  I just thought she had an UTI.  Turns out she has two large bladder stones!  How could this happen to my baby girl?

    Country Corrie

I’m just hoping it’s not a genetic disposition, she’s not even two yet!  Thankfully she is blissfully unaware of what’s going on.  She still loves to munch and pounce on Chase as ever.  Today she has to get a fentanyl patch and tomorrow she’ll have surgery to remove the stones :(

please say a little doggie prayer and I’ll post more soon…

  • Wacky Weather in Winter in San Francisco

Ok – I wore a sweater to work and I am sweating because it’s 65 degrees out!  The plants are confused because the cherry blossoms are already popping out and we have roses blooming on the deck!  It doesn’t help that we’ve barely had rain all winter but at least all is well and happy.  Here’s some recent doggie pics – -

Here’s the inseparable Chase and Corrie during one rare rainy night.  Shelties are made for rough weather, and here they are halfway inside as not to miss a shake of the treat can!

Here’s Corrie munching on her brother.

Even though Corrie has her own crate she insists on shacking up in Chase’s.
